The EMT- Paramedic/Firefighter will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the Horizon Oil Sands site by ensuring effective emergency response when needed. The EMT-Paramedic/Firefighter will be responsible for all duties pertaining to fire, rescue, medical, emergency and environmental hazards.
This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
Relocation to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray
Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out and Accommodations Program with charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton
Shift: 7 & 7 - Days and Nights rotation
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
- Ensure effective emergency response by providing professional application of skills and techniques at the emergency scene
- Assist in maintaining and inspecting fire apparatus and equipment
- Make fire code inspections of site facility infrastructure and prepares pre-fire plans
- Provide leadership and training to operations Fire and Rescue team members
- Provide input into the effectiveness of the program
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Typically 5+ years of paramedic experience with a certification in Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
- Registration with the Alberta College of Paramedic as an EMT-P required
- Valid basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certificate
- Valid class 5, 4 and 3Q driver's license
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 & II and NFPA 1003 ARFF considered an asset
- Minimum standard of physical fitness is applicable for this role
