QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of experience in a similar position required.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of other general office equipment is required.
  • Must pass a Customer Service Representative test, including keyboarding, computer fluency and basic mathematics.
  • Must be able to deal with customers and other employees in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Must work extended business hours, selected holidays and overtime as required.
  • Must successfully complete the IPL Customer Service Training program. 
  • Additional consideration will be given for any experience or training contributing to the applicant's ability to perform the job.

JOB FUNCTION:

  • The IPL Customer Service Center is a fast-paced inbound Call Center.  Successful candidate will take calls from customers who have questions about their electric bill, service, and payment arrangements (including extensions) accurately and within established Company guidelines.  Performs other duties that may be requested by authorized personnel.

DURING TRAINING:

  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week throughout the 4-week training period.
  • Punctual, 100% mandatory attendance is required.

WORK SCHEDULE (AFTER TRAINING ENDS):

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and various schedules in order to meet service needs.
  • May be required to work 40 hours per week for one or two weeks per month and work fewer hours in the remaining weeks of the month.
  • Part-time hours will not exceed 1,000 hours per year.
  • Current IPL call center hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.  Candidates hired may be scheduled during any of these hours.
  • May be required to work when Call Center is open.  This might include some days that the Company observes as a "holiday" as well as during inclement weather - even when area schools and businesses are closed.
  • Attendance, punctuality and schedule adherence are critical in our Call Center environment and to our Customer Service Team's success.
  • Schedules are determined upon hire to allow individuals time to coordinate vacations, child care, schooling or other personal time around the posted work schedule.

The work we do to provide safe, reliable electric service to our Customers is critical.  Your exceptional, punctual attendance is necessary in order for us to provide prompt customer service.
