The Senior Project Manager (PM) will report to the Program Manager and will be engaged in the project from the initiation / definition phase through final commissioning and closeout.  Project scopes vary as will the roles of the PM for each project.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading a team of Design and Construction Engineers in the execution of Transmission Capital Projects from initiation through closeout. The Sr. PM is responsible for managing project budgets, and for interfacing with other company departments to address project needs. The Sr. PM is responsible to manage a portfolio of projects and for communicating and interfacing with company management on project needs. The Senior PM will be responsible for interfacing with local, state and federal agencies regarding specific project needs. The Sr. PM is responsible for negotiating and managing contracts and contractors. The Sr. PM must be able to work in a matrix environment, and be able to manage employees without direct (hardline) authority.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide Project Team leadership and management through design, construction and close-out phases of the project.
  • Use Stage Gate Processes to implement scoping, execute engineering, construction and close out the project.
  • Create Project Execution Plan
  • Engage project team members to deliver necessary schedule, status and costing updates.
  • Monitor/report project team performance from a schedule, cost and quality view.
  • Manage Successful Project Execution.
  • Project Issue Document(s) and Issue Resolution
  • Bi-weekly Status Reports.
  • Conference Records for all meetings.
  • Open, Close and Manage Work Orders as Required
  • Manage Project Work Order via Cost Sheet.
  • Follow up on close out activities via Capital Project Processes.
  • Timely Invoicing for Work Performed
  • Consolidated Time sheet for all work on Entergy Capital projects.
  • Actively Participate and Provide Working Forecast/Project updates via Monthly Budget Meetings.
  • Utilize Jurisdictional Status Report format as method of communicating project status to stakeholders and CPM&T Program Manager.  Update monthly status and project costing.
  • Develop communication plans for communicating project status to interface between Transmission Project Development group, Major Account/C&I, and customer for monthly status and billing requirements as required.

JOB STANDARDS:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Disciplines) or Construction Management.
  • Requires ten (10) years or more Project Management experience.
  • Requires professional utilities experience with employment in engineering or construction work. Requires professional experience to assure competence as a professional. Professional engineering license or other relevant certification is desired.
  • Must have superior interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Requires a proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of MS Office suite of products (especially MS Word and MS Excel).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or construction atmosphere;
  • Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
  • Working plant, construction, and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds;
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
