Description
SOS, a leading provider of NERC training and compliance services for clients in the electric power industry, is seeking an experienced leader who will provide training development and delivery services for online and instructor-led training. The successful candidate will have experience in developing and delivering quality NERC training with a customer-oriented approach.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in all aspects of training including development and delivery of training programs and individual courses
  • Monitors emerging changes in NERC training standards and participates in developing new training curriculum (on-line and classroom) to meet these standards
  • Plans, develops, and implements technical product training programs for customers; technical training may include standard, repeatable modules, customized and new product modules
  • Serves as technical trainer and simulation subject matter expert (SME)
  • Provides one-on-one student support when scheduled (Instructor Hours) or requested.
  • Follows up with students at completion of class (NERC Prep class) to gather helpful information for improving future classes.
  • Support development of service and product line for training/consulting services related to PER-005
  • Assists in developing and reviewing Instructional Learning Activities (ILA) as assigned.
  • Identifies project/course/program deliverables, milestones, required tasks and resources for project completion
  • Communicates project activities with marketing, sales, operations, customer support, and client staff to ensure goals and requirements are met
  • Obtains information from customer to prepare training programs and training materials
  • Prepares course content
  • Organizes content material according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
  • Reviews, edits, standardizes, and/or makes changes to material prepared by other writers (Peer Review)
  • Communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional needs for training events and training programs
  • Interprets customer procedures, policies and content and translates into written subject material for custom training modules
  • Designs and conducts Webinars for new product /services demonstrations
  • Conducts training sessions, product demonstrations, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities and training programs
  • Confers with management and marketing staff to identify training topic and course needs
  • Assists with proposal preparation and cost solutions.
  • Performs technical writing as needed
  • Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow
  • Works within budgeted parameters to complete deliverables to meet customer expectations
Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience Required:

  • Five years of relevant experience in developing training presentations and delivering classroom training (also working knowledge of North American electric industry including applicable regulations, reliability (standards/practices, etc.)
  • Proficiency with systematic approach to training and evidence based adult learning techniques
  • Excellent communications skills (presentation, verbal and written) and ability to relate to and communicate with audiences of different levels, including executives
  • Strong interpersonal and team-focused skills through a collaborative approach towards work and deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project deadlines through effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite of products

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience Preferred:

  • Knowledge of e-learning software and content development tools such as Articulate, and familiarity with graphic design, illustration, and flash programming preferred;
  • Alternatively knowledge of ANSI standards, program audit practices, and various job task analysis methods
  • NERC Certification
