Description
This technical position will serve as a compliance auditor within the bulk electric industry for the Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP) of Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC). The compliance auditor's responsibilities and auditing standards are developed in coordination with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).

Major Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive on-site and off-site audits of registered entities in compliance with 
  • NERC reliability standards and WECC regional reliability standards.
  • Evaluate and assess compliance of periodic data submittals from registered entities.
  • Conduct investigations into potential violations and make determinations of alleged 
  • violations of the standards.
  • Conduct compliance reviews associated with NERC Events Analysis program.
  • Develop and update compliance status reports.
  • Assist in the daily administration of the Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, and industry related field of study or equivalent combination of education and related industry experience resulting in demonstrated ability to perform major duties.
  • Three to five years' experience in the electric utility industry, or related technical industry, in at least one of the following discipline areas:  Protection System design, testing or maintenance, Generator Operations, Transmission System Operations, Balancing Area Operations, 
  • Communications Systems Maintenance or Transmission Planning.
  • Knowledge of auditing principles and investigation techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NERC reliability standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 35% of the time to perform on-site compliance audits.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to individuals with training and at least five years' experience in the following areas:

  • Transmission System Protection and Control design, testing and maintenance.
  • Engineering Planning studies for the TPL Reliability Standards.
  • Experience in Power System Modeling
