The Manager of Dispatch is responsible for the performance and oversight of the Power System Controllers and dispatch center. This position is responsible for decisions that involve revision of methods and procedures necessary to achieve department and Cooperative objectives. This position must also be knowledgeable with and adhere to all regulatory requirements of this position.

Education and Experience: Bachelors or associates degree preferred, with a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be currently certified as a NERC System Operator (Reliability Coordinator, Transmission Operator or Balancing Operator certification). Fifteen (15) years previous experience working in an electric utility control center with at least ten (10) of those years in a supervisory position. Experience with the operation of power systems, including; transmission, distribution, or any equivalent or related combination of education, training, and/or experience that will satisfy the requirements listed for this position.
Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of switching procedures, lockout / tagout procedures, clearance procedures, and OSHA regulations regarding these procedures. Develop thorough knowledge of VEA’s electric transmission and distribution system. Familiar with the National Electric Safety Code. Knowledge and competency in applicable NERC/WECC Reliability Standards for system operation. High computer literacy, with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.). Thorough knowledge of various software programs used to communicate with and program various electronic relays and controls. Basic understanding of thermal generators.
