Description
The Regional Claims Manager (RCM) is the first point of contact for all liability and worker's compensation claims for an assigned geographic territory which may cross operational division boundaries. Case management responsibilities involve auto and general liability claims, property damage claims, and Worker's Compensation claims. Claims are handled in close cooperation with the Corporate Insurance and Legal Departments and with the company's insurance carrier. The RCM also provides risk management services in collaboration with the Regional Safety Manager, Operations Management, and acts as a consultant to other Regional level staff.

Major Job Elements:

  • Directly handles cases and exercises independent judgment in the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and disposition of Auto, General Liability, and Property claims.
  • First point of contact in handling and reporting Worker's Compensation cases. Coordinates and assists carrier in conducting investigations for compensability and overall managing of the case.
  • Establishes and maintains rapport with claimants, adjusters, internal and external customers and other involved parties in the claims process.
  • Creates and analyzes trend and financial reports for leadership and executive teams.
  • Conducts on-site field investigations and attends Small Claims Court trials.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal or legal assistant program or diploma/certificate
  • 10+ Years' experience in insurance claims management position or related experience in a corporate insurance or legal department, law firm, or insurance company with experience in liability and worker's compensation claims, ranging from minor property damage claims to serious injuries
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Able to process heavy volume of complex written material; analyze situations, establish priorities
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Handle multiple tasks, develop action plans and coordinate activities in a timely and efficient manner
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and reasoning skills necessary to manage claims
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
