Under direct supervision, performs maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generators maintenance and repair activities may include but not limited to gearboxes, generators, main shaft, turbine blades, collector rings, generator bearings, yaw drives, pitch tubes and weld repairs. Performs precision measurement, generator alignment, bearing replacement, and torque checks. Performs electrical and mechanical troubleshooting activities as required. Attend regular safety meetings and follow appropriate company safety and environmental policies. Operate, maintain, and manage utility truck and tool inventory. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance and work at heights greater than 100 feet from the ground surface. Extensive travel with little or no notice within the entire NextEra Energy fleet is required as part of the employee's schedule.
Primary (Essential) Job Functions:
- Performs maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
- Performs electrical, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting
- Responsible for maintaining all company supplied equipment, facilities and tooling.
- Complete Safety mentor training curriculum with 6 months of initial hire
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- Successfully complete Wind Technician 3 training curriculum within first year
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Valid wind field service certification or equivalent
- 0+ years experience in (or equivalent): Wind turbine repair and maintenance
- Ability to climb freestanding wind turbine towers
- Valid DOT Medical Card (if required by state authority)
- Chauffeurs license (if required by state authority)
Preferred Qualifications: Associates' Degree in related field of study
