Meter Shop Technical Coordinator Sr.

The Meter Tech and Test Services Support department at Arizona Public Service has an opportunity for a Senior Meter Shop Technical Coordinator who will direct the installation and maintenance of large billing meters and equipment for generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Our Senior Coordinator must be able to solve complex metering problems involving meter theory and vector analysis, coordinate work activities with other departments, other utilities or outside companies.  Knowledge of AMI metering systems including monitoring and troubleshooting of cellular communications and an FR mesh network is preferred.

Major Accountabilities Include:

  • Ensure the design, installation and accuracy of generating, interchange, and large capacity metering equipment are in compliance with standards
  • Validate process systems recorder information on the PC and upload to main frame
  • Maintain the company's watt-hour standard is accurate by performing laboratory tests against the Bureau of Standards watt-hour standard
  • Establish computer programs and information files
  • Provide written reports with resolution recommendations for system design/application problems, proposed new equipment evaluations, system performance measurements, and routine maintenance procedures
  • Provide technical leadership in the direction and training of Polyphase Meterman in handling of more complex job and equipment
  • Maintain and up-date the Electric Service Requirements Manual, and provide training accordingly
  • Approve drawings on service Entrance Sections
  • Assist the Supervisor in the planning and budgeting of major items of meter test equipment
  • Maintain a high level of safety for Technical Coordinator and Polyphase Meterman
Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess and demonstrate a high level of competence in leadership, decision making and planning/organizational skills
  • 5 years working experience as a Polyphase Meterman or its equivalent is required
  • Proficiency in computer skills, electronic theory, scientific math, circuit analysis, ESRM and NEC
  • Thorough knowledge of company safety rules and practices and of the labor agreement
