Description
This is a temporary position.
To contribute to the timely and accurate billing of customers through the collecting and recording of data used to establish consumption of electricity.
JOB DUTIES:
- Complete daily meter data collection assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Determine most practical and time efficient route while avoiding restricted zones.
- Effectively communicate with employees, interact with customers and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
- Upload and download data to Meter Reading collection equipment via computer systems.
- Accurately read and record meter readings.
- Report unusual conditions of customer premises as meter reading procedures dictate.
- Complete miscellaneous reports as required.
- Operate and maintain Company equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Adhere to company and departmental safety rules and procedures.
- Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Wear the approved uniform and maintain clothing in a neat and clean manner.
WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS:
- Normal work hours consist of a 40 hour work week Mon - Fri. Overtime will be worked when necessary to maintain the work schedule.
- Work includes frequent driving for extended periods of time, walking and exposure to all types of weather.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather conditions including: rain, extreme heat, elevated humidity, and cold temperatures.
- Must be able to stand, walk, ascend and descend steps, navigate uneven surfaces, bend, crouch, stretch, drive for extended periods of time, frequently enter and exit vehicle, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to walk for extended distances throughout the day.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND/OR GIVEN:
- Work is routine and is checked. Some minor decisions are made in regard to improving efficiency and answering customer questions.

Basic/Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid FL driver's license
