Eaton's Crouse-Hinds Division has an immediate opening for an SAP VC Business Analyst. This position may work remotely from a home office. Ideally, the position will be based at our Syracuse, New York facility.
Position Overview:
The SAP Business Analyst (Variant Configuration) is the primary liaison between various business functions and the IT function for customer quotations, configurable products, bill of materials, variant configuration pricing and the underlying master data. This position is responsible for SAP product configuration initiatives, Cincom and BidManager product configurator(s), VC pricing, and related applications support.
As a business Subject Matter Expert, the Business Analyst provides input to the Configuration and Quotation system strategy. The analyst will also lead implementation of new systems for quotations, configured products and field sales support working directly with business users and the corporate IT. This position will also coordinate and support regression testing and testing of new applications.
The Business Analyst is responsible for project coordination in accordance with PROLaunch process standards. The position jointly participates in PROLaunch Phase 1 and Gate 1 with assigned Project Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Creates and maintains SAP VC models, including dependency logic, selection conditions, pick tables, and feature-based BOM, routing, and pricing models
- Serves as primary business subject matter expert in the configuration space, providing functional requirements (FDD), technical requirements (TDD), scope and requirements documents.
- Assists front-end modelers in maintaining the connection to SAP, ensuring that the XML files generated by both internal and third-party front-end tools supply sufficient information to SAP to correctly generate unique configurations
- Establishes and meets Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to keep models up-to-date with the current business requirements
- Establishes and follows organizational best practices that create flexibility and expand capacity to support multiple configurable product families
- Collaborates with developers and other subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
- Utilizes strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Defines test plans, test specifications, test cases as well as design tools for unit, functional and performance testing, and facilitates UAT.
- Provides guidance to master data cleanliness initiative both locally and globally, including creation and maintenance of metrics representing master data integrity.
- Consults with other groups, such as Engineering, Marketing, Customer Service, and Pricing, to advise on data-related initiatives such as NPI, price maintenance, and business process improvement.
- Gathers requirements using interviews, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, and workflow analysis. Leverages knowledge of business applications and technology, to evaluate business requests and project solutions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or IT from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of SAP experience
- Minimum of 2 years of SAP VC experience
- Programming experience in Java, HTML or ABAP
- No relocation assistance is being provided. Candidates can work remotely from a home office.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
