Based at the Valley Forge, PA facility, the Distribution Products Application Engineer will be responsible for supporting/developing business for Megger through the USA Distribution, USA Comms and CSA (Latin America) sales channels, focusing on earth testers, insulation testers and low resistance ohmmeters. She/he will travel in the territory, working with Megger's distributors, manufacturers' representatives and sales managers to present Megger's earth testers, insulation testers and low resistance ohmmeters to end users. She/he will support the launch of new products in the region and also train Megger's Distributor/Rep sales people and help secure orders and/or product approvals.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  •   Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Megger's Distributor Products, especially earth testers, insulation testers and low resistance ohmmeters.
  •   Travel in the USA and CSA markets, supporting Megger's regional managers, distributors and reps' efforts to sell earth testers, insulation testers and low resistance ohmmeters.
  •   Make product sales demonstrations in front of prospective end users and distributors.
  •   Provide first-level product training to end users and distributors.
  •   Perform follow ups as required with prospective customers and distributors.
  •   Assist in arranging/running regional product/application seminars as applicable.
  •   Work closely with the appropriate Megger sites, especially Dover, communicating customer requirements and outlining product issues.
  •   Provide feedback to the factories on new product ideas and/or modifications or extensions to current products.
  •   Handle in-coming application-related calls from customers and prospective customers.
  •   Use the soon-to-be-implemented CRM system to capture and track all customer activity.
  •   Provide activity input to his/her supervisor for use in his monthly report.
  •   Provide summary reports to the appropriate sales manager on all trips made, including identified opportunities, recommendations and actions.
  •   Manage travel expenses to stay within the allotted travel budget.
  •   Work with the Megger Marketing Department on promotional programs and initiatives for the territory.
  •   Assist in the introduction of new products.
  •   Work on special projects as directed by his/her supervisor.
  •   Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Technical Responsibilities:

  •   Field and internal support for Megger's lines of earth testers, insulation testers and low resistance ohmmeters.
Requirements

Minimum Skill Sets and Competencies:

  •   High School diploma required. 2-year degree preferred.
  •   Knowledge/experience with electrical test and measurement equipment.
  •   A minimum of 8 years of sales and/or application experience.
  •   Strong verbal and written communication skills regarding technical subject matter.
  •   Electrical engineering degree or the equivalent work experience preferred.
  •   Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  •   Solid organizational skills.
  •   Strong customer/end user empathy.
  •   Works well with teams or in a team environment.
  •   Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  •   Ability to understand and learn Megger's application software.
  •   Strong ability to multi-task.
