Description
ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION SITE SUPERVISOR will oversee construction activities and will be involved in the supervision of General Contractors, Subcontractors and Shermco Construction personnel. This position reports to the Construction Manager. All work crews and individuals on site will take their direction from the site supervisor, who is responsible for understanding job scopes and applying resources to accomplish that work. The Construction Site Supervisor will plan, implement and oversee construction efforts at specific work sites. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedules the construction of and modifications to electrical substation facilities..
  • Supervises and oversees all installation and construction projects and crews to ensure compliance with specifications and engineering plans.
  • Prepares daily, weekly and monthly inspection schedules of substation equipment and facilities.
  • Reviews engineering plans and coordinates modifications to the plans with Engineer.
  • Order Materials for Construction. Example : Order DC & AC panelboards for new Construction as well as for Maintenance replacement of old & outdated Substation AC & DC panelboards, order batteries , GCB, Regulator and Transformer parts, high voltage switches that fail.
  • Prepares and reviews project specifications and cost estimations for Change Orders.
  • Requisitions equipment parts, materials and equipment needed for construction projects.
  • Trains employees on the procedures and practices used by Shermco and the Construction Industry.
  • Responsible for ensuring the enforcement of and compliance with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations
  • Ability to translate mechanical ideas into electrical solutions when upgrading old equipment.
  • Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements.
  • Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders.
  • Approves construction projects by conducting inspections at critical phases; obtaining approvals from customer.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Establish & maintain high staff morale, model sound leadership and teamwork.
  • Schedule delivery of needed materials and labor requests.
  • Trouble-shoot and identify construction problems; offer timely and safe solutions.
  • Ensure project proceeds in a timely manner.
  • Manage tool and materials inventory for each project. Ensure unused materials are accounted for and reported to the Construction Manager.
  • Complete necessary reports and talk with Construction Manager to discuss construction progress.
Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communications skills and established credibility and integrity.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience in general construction with excellent hands-on construction skills.
  • Strong experience in successfully supervising electrical construction projects.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
  • Understanding of and adherence to proper safety procedures and recognition of hazards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and other construction software
  • Ability to critically look at craftsmanship and provide appropriate mentoring to team members.
  • Ability to organize time, material, and labor
  • The ability to supervise numerous crews handling a variety of tasks.
