Job Summary: 

The Piping Designer/Drafter will be responsible for preparing  layout and design of complex offshore/onshore piping design systems  using 2D drafting and 3D modeling software. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Perform and uphold quality of design deliverables 
  • Possess the willingness and the ability to self-manage workload and the 
  • workload of a small design team (i.e. typically less than five designers) 
  • Ability to read and comprehend Process and Instrumentation Diagrams 
  • (P&ID's). 
  • Ability to take a 2D flowsheet and conceptualize a 3D model that reflect the process design. 
  • Prepare layout and design of complex facility piping systems utilizing 
  • prescribed 2D and 3D software 
  • Producing quality piping design layouts, layouts of various process 
  • skids, orientation of process equipment with nozzle locations, overall 
  • facility design and design of interconnecting piping 
  • Generating piping isometric drawings and bills of material using the 
  • prescribed software. 
  • Generating piping line list and tie-in list when required 
  • Participate in or travel solo to site and vendor visits as required 
  • Assist engineers and designers in resolving piping and facility design 
  • issues 
  • Other various project responsibilities as required
Requirements
  • Requires a High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Requires a minimum of Five (5) years of piping layout and design experience relating to the Oil & Gas industry. 
  • Must have advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D software. Experience with the following 3D modeling and model related software is preferred: 
  • AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, Navisworks-Simulate and Manage, Isogen, Advanced Steel Must be proficient in 2D AutoCAD 
  • Working knowledge of Cartesian and site-specific coordinate systems 
  • Working knowledge of applicable oil and gas related piping codes and standards 
  • Requires knowledge and ability to work with MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) 
  • Must have a working knowledge of ASME piping and valve related codes and standards. 
  • Requires a proven ability to conduct layout and design for facility piping systems. 
  • Must have knowledge of pipe and fittings, valves, and piping specialties. 
  • Must have the ability to develop isometrics from orthographic drawings in the prescribed software package. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations. 
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere; Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel; 
  • Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels; 
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection; 
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes; 
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds; 
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively; 
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
