Reporting to and acting as the backup for the Terminal Manager, the Terminal Operations Supervisor has a wide range of responsibilities and accountabilities touching upon all aspects of terminal operations including HSSE, payroll, relationships with regulatory bodies, stock accounting & reconciliation, requisition to pay, asset management, people development andexternal customer interfaces.  This role involves day to day leadership and work direction of operating personnel and contractors at the Burmount Terminal.  This position is responsible for the safe, efficient and environmentally secure operation of the terminal. Involves administration and maintenance of terminal operating systems, the control and compliance of budget and financial management of the Terminal to corporate policy, and leadership & support for terminal compliance to Shell Distribution HSSE policy.  The operating systems impact stock, product quality, safety and loss control.  The Terminal is operated 24/7 and receives product via pipeline and truck deliveries.

Leadership:

  • Provide guidance and leadership to Terminal Operators in regards to daily operations and work details through clear communication and priority setting, consistent with performance expectations established by Terminal Manager, development and training schedules for skill enhancement and work schedules.
  • Assist Terminal Manager with individual reviews, competency evaluation, recognizing good performance and dealing with underperformance.
  • Act as a change agent supporting and leading LEAN initiatives

Health Safety Security Environment:

  • Actively demonstrate visible and felt HSSE leadership, lead terminal related incident investigations and reporting.
  • Lead the Terminal Operations team in order to ensure compliance of terminal operations with legal requirements and Shell standards and guidelines, maintain terminal contingency and emergency response plans.
  • Engage with contractors and carriers to maintain and improve HSSE performance
  • Ensures safe work permits (Lead Permit Issuer) and Life Saving Rules compliance

Product Quality:

  • Manage product quality testing requirements for the terminal
  • Assist and manage any terminal product quality issues and lead investigations & reporting of Product Quality incidents

Asset Management (R&I, ME, Project, AIM):

  • Work with Terminal Manager in leading site maintenance plan through effective cost controls, and safety practices.
  • Assign & Administer DGAME work orders ensuring timely completion of ME activities, coordinate R&I updates with Maintenance Scheduler
  • Provide capital project input to facility engineer
  • Ensure Management of Change process is Followed

Stock Accounting:

  • Audit control and investigation of stock loss/gain accountabilities, monitor and take corrective action to ensure adequate control of physical stock, accounting policy, compliance and reporting of any deviations or potential inventory issues
  • Provide guidance to Terminal Operators in daily pipeline & transport scheduling and liaise with Supply Operations to ensure no interruptions or operational delays

Systems/Operations

  • Manage the Terminal Management System (TMS) for site to control and program load rack access, accounts, carriers, drivers, product listings and product allocations. This includes liaison with carriers requiring access to Terminal, ensuring that they are in compliance with site requirements and Shell
  • Customer Service Reps and Territory managers for account setups. Site time focal: ensure accurate entry of timesheets into HR CATS, maintenance of shift schedules and retain all records in accordance with Audit and regulatory requirements
  • Requisition Purchase Orders, create Service Entry Sheets and ensure payment of requisitioned goods or services
  • Assist Terminal Manager with development and management of budget and accountabilities particularly in regards to non-routine
