Role Summary:

The Lead Process Improvement Specialist will develop and implement product quality, management system, and laboratory improvements.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition you will :

  • Collaborate with GE and external resources to develop and integrate digital solutions for manufacturing simplification and product quality assurance
  • Develop and deliver solutions that enable the team to successfully execute quality initiatives set in the GE Aviation Production System
  • Develop and execute software validation protocol
  • Understand and drive quality assurance and quality control including quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes and conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, etc.
  • Work to ensure customer requirements are evaluated documented, and flowed down properly
  • Write quality plan requirements
  • Maintain relevant quality master data in the ERP system
  • Interface with suppliers and supply chain to drive quality and improve supplier quality performance
  • Collaborate with suppliers to control input raw materials and improve consistency
  • Support investigation and monitoring of supplier quality related issues in production
  • Specify and develop incoming inspection acceptance / test procedures relating to products / components
  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams
  • Utilize process capability to guide process and product quality improvements
  • Continuously improve process capability
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and develop improvement opportunities
  • Utilize risk assessment in evaluating changes and developing improvements
  • Implement the timely execution of quality simplification and improvement concepts to meet evolving needs
  • Conduct quality investigations, root causes analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Guide and conduct measurement system analysis
  • Support definition of process and laboratory calibration requirements

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality and / or IT role)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or IT

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university or college AND / OR a MBA from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience with digital enterprise resource planning, manufacturing execution, and quality management systems
  • Six Sigma training
  • Ability to understand and implement customer and industry standards
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with both customers and internal and external employees
  • Strong oral and written communication / presentations skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
  • Aviation or Automotive manufacturing experience
  • Innovative, self-motivated, and a fast learner

GE Aviation is investing more than $200 million to construct two factories on 100 acres in Huntsville, Alabama. One plant will mass produce silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic fiber, the first high volume production operation in the U.S. The adjacent GE factory on the same campus will use the SiC ceramic fiber to make unidirectional CMC prepreg necessary to fabricate the CMC components.
