Position Summary

Serves as member of a team of analysts with the responsibility to lead, coordinate, and ensure the accurate and timely completion of the daily risk assessment for wholesale transactions as reported in daily, month-end, CRMOC required trading and credit risk reports and SEC financial reporting requirements for wholesale transactions. These requirements include, but not limited, to market risk assessment, credit and performance risk assessment and additional risk analysis as needed. Monitors and controls exposure/risk through facilitation and coordination of all appropriate internal approvals, in accordance with existing risk management and credit policy. Provide daily oversight and direction to less senior staff. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze physical and financial commodity trading transactions for risk and performance assessment. Coordinates daily, monthly, and quarterly department reporting of trading risk, also known as market risk, and credit risk reporting. Insures department CRMOC (Corporate Risk Management Oversight Committee) and SEC financial disclosures/reports are accurate and in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley) and internal policy guidelines.
  • Assist Risk Management Leadership in oversight of trading, marketing, and hedging activities.
  • Provides support in maintaining current position tracking software, value-at-risk and other statistical models within the corporation and helps to identify and develop changes to policy, analysis techniques and statistical models in relation to changes in products transacted or overall market conditions.
  • Provide work direction to team members. Provide job performance feedback to manager. Leads and trains less senior staff. Provides cross-training on other key department functions for backup support. Ensure maximum utilization of human resources by promoting teamwork, diversity, safety, customer orientation, and development of individual potential
  • Responsible for leading and coordinating related system applications projects and routine system maintenance. Identifies, develops, recommends, and implements needed system enhancements to ensure effective risk management tools. Works directly with Business Systems and other groups within risk to implement approved changes that enhance the team's ability to monitor risk and implement controls.
  • Facilitates credit provisions of contracts/enabling agreements to protect the operating companies from imprudent financial/credit risk. Responsible for reviewing, and verifying conformity with existing credit policy and managing security instruments (bank letters of credit, guarantees, etc.).
  • Manages the daily cash margining requirements for the operating companies. Responsible for verifying the contractual obligations and approves receipt and payment of cash collateral under the financial/ISDA contracts. Performs and presents forecasts to Risk Management such as cash flow-at-risk, liquidity risk, etc. 
  • Managers the financial review and approval of unsecured credit lines within dollar-delegated authority in conformity with the Wholesale Credit Risk and Contract Administration Policy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years wholesale credit experience within a bank or financial services organization, but energy trading credit experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated consulting, planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of financial principles, commodity trading, futures markets, credit and financial exposure.
  • Knowledge of commercial credit and energy industry contracts/requirements (e.g., ISDA, EEI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy laws related to credit and cash management (e.g., forward activity).
  • Knowledge of trading and credit risk mitigation techniques (e.g., offsetting positions and netting, collateralization, margining, adequate assurance provisions) including qualitative and quantitative approaches (e.g., modeling, forecasting).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service and relationship skills.
  • Ability to multitask and to assign daily workflow to team members, as needed.
  • Lead or supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of applicable computer based risk analysis systems (e.g., Risk Dimension and BookRunner, ECM, etc.) and strong MS-Office application skills (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) required.
