JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dedicated and results driven professional to join our team in the role of Draftsperson at our Northwest Operations - Production Support which is located in Thunder Bay, Ontario located approximately 1400 kilometres North / West from Toronto. This is a full time 12-month contract role.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Integration Services the role of Draftsperson is responsible for preparing working drawings of structures and layouts of various electrical, mechanical and civil systems. The Draftsperson will consult with engineers to understand the project-specific needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Revise and create schematics, equipment drawings and arrangement drawings using AutoCAD

  • Review of structural and/or architectural drawings

  • Drawing Management Administration

  • Data management and revision control

  • Perform dimension and other basic calculations under supervision

  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specification and design data

  • Verify prepared contract and vendor documents

  • Carry out other drafting projects as assigned

EDUCATION

  • 3 year Mechanical Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma

QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to candidates who bring the follow experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience working as a draftsperson

  • 1-2 years of direct hands-on experience using AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling, drawing dimensioning and tolerance labeling

  • High skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets

  • Proficient in project planning to ensure timely completion of assignments with a focus on detail and accuracy
