The International Development Group based inWashington, DCis seeking a Senior International Marketing & Communications Specialist to help showcase the team's projects and activities in emerging markets and to work in tandem with the corporate marketing and communications teams on relevant regional and global initiatives. The successful candidate will have a fundamental understanding of marketing and communications principles and procedures, and demonstrated experiencing applying them within an international development context. This position will be based in Washington D.C.

Your Duties

Brand support - copywriting & editing : Strong story-telling and writing skills are essential for this role. The successful candidate will be a champion of the Stantec brand and work to create dynamic content that will successfully promote the ideas, achievements and ongoing activities of the international development group across external and internal platforms. He/she is expected to contribute substantively to brand collateral, business development proposals, thought-leadership pieces, and serve as a company representative for specific marketing events/opportunities as needed.

Communications strategy/system support: The individual will be a key part of developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy and plan for the international development group. Participation in larger team meetings to discuss specific initiatives, and contribute to brainstorm sessions for story and promotional development, and/or marketing strategies will be required. He/she will also be responsible for overseeing the production, maintenance and distribution of both routine and complex communications outreach products including high-quality presentations and brochures, web content, digital marketing and social media, and professional/business association events. Social media content support and administration: This position will work closely with marketing and communications teams and other practitioners to gather materials and content for use on the company's various social media platforms, including the Stantec blog, Stantec.com, internal Community Sites, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Collaboration/Brainstorming: This individual will need to embrace a collaborative environment and work closely with international teams in the US (Washington, DC and Chicago) and Europe (the Netherlands, Belgium, and Turkey), as well as corporate marketing and communications teams in the US and Canada. He/she will interact regularly to establish weekly priorities, assignments, and progress toward long-term goals.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, international development/relations or similar field

  • At least 5-10 years' previous work experience in a marketing, communication or international relations driven role

  • Detail oriented and organized with exceptional prioritization skills

  • Experience overseeing and managing simultaneous projects

  • Fundamental understanding of traditional and social media landscapes

  • Excellent interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Highly-motivated, willingness to think outside the box, and work collaboratively through others

  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe platforms (Word, PowerPoint, InDesign, etc.) as well as essential communications tools such as Hootsuite, Marketo and content management systems (CMS)., Knowledge and experience working in an international development context with a particular focus on Africa and the Middle East, but also Latin America and Asia

  • Professional writing samples and/or examples of successful, multi-tooled campaigns will be requested

  • Cross cultural understanding and awareness as this position will be coordinating regularly with marketing and communications staff in Continental Europe
