JOB SUMMARY

Grid Control and Connectivity with offices in Alameda, CA and Chicago, IL is responsible for best in class electricity Distribution Automation and Wireless Communication products and solutions, worldwide.  Included in this position is the support of intelligent embedded software devices with an emphasis on evolving modernized grid cyber-security initiatives.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with marketing to assure product designs meets market requirements.
  • Develop and contributed to the development of project schedules, task and project completion time estimates, detailed software specifications and test plans.
  • Conduct and/or manage all necessary development work pertinent to software design including, detailed architecture design, specifications, analysis, design, implementation, testing and related documentation.
  • Develop and support microcontroller programs on various platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with other software and test engineers to deliver reliable, mission critical embedded software.
  • Work with Application Engineers to ensure proper directions for integration into customer system

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related fields. MS degree preferred.
  • 8 years of experience in the design and development of real-time, mission critical embedded software in C.
  • Experience with embedded operating systems such as uClinux, VxWorks, or custom kernels.
  • Experience with Cyber-security related Role Based Administrative Control techniques
  • Experience with authentication protocols inclusive of multi-factor authentication
  • Programming on wireless transceiver platforms and SoCs such as 802.15.4 and 802.11 platforms
  • Experience implementing communication protocols directly on the link layer or on serial links
  • Experience with traffic capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark
  • Understanding of cryptographic primitives such as AES and public key cryptography
  • Demonstrated ability to write robust, maintainable, and extensible code in C within existing coding standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time with rare periods lasting more than a week.
  • US Citizenship.

In addition the following are desirable, but not required:

  • Experience with board level debug and logic analyzers.
  • Experience writing device drivers such as I2C drivers.
  • Java programming experience.
  • Experience with secure elements and Java Card.
  • Experience with DNP secure authentication or security for electric utility protocols.
  • Basic understanding of NISTR 7628 guidelines and NERC-CIP initiatives.
  • Familiarity with systems, protocols, and standards such as SCADA, MODBUS, and 61850 used in the utility industry.
