We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Federal Regulatory Coordinator I, II or Senior. The successful candidate will coordinate with business areas and federal regulatory counsel to oversee compliance with various federal laws and regulations affecting UNS Energy Corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliates including Tucson Electric Power Company, UNS Electric, Inc., UNS Gas, Inc., and UniSource Energy Development Company (collectively, the "Company"), including those mandated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC"), North American Electric Reliability Corporation ("NERC"), Western Electricity Coordinating Council ("WECC"), Securities Exchange Commission, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission and Commodity Future Trading Commission, as well as laws governing the Company's political action committee.  Coordinates the collection, drafting review and submission of data from a variety of sources in response to federal regulatory filings, data requests, general rate case proceedings, and other federal regulatory matters. 

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • As requested, assists federal regulatory counsel in the drafting, review and filing of various compliance filings.
  • Assists federal regulatory counsel in the compilation of responses to data requests by federal regulators and submission of the same.
  • Tracks and communicates on assigned regulatory matters to regulatory counsel and Company personnel.  Calendars and ensures adherence to deadlines.
  • Develops assigned training programs and conducts assigned training on compliance matters.
  • Tracks, reviews and keeps apprised of assigned rulemaking proceedings and industry best practices/guidance for compliance with same; where applicable, works with affected business areas to compile comments in response to new rulemaking; coordinates and communicates information on such rulemaking proceedings and best practices/guidance to regulatory counsel and business areas; and assists to develop appropriate processes and procedures to comply with same.
  • Monitors evolution of reliability standard requirements mandated by NERC and WECC, and assists to coordinate and oversee internal compliance with the same.
  • If assigned to Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards, coordinates preparation and management of technical feasibility exceptions to CIP standards
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of Company e-tariff filings software, FERC e-filing system and any other Company software utilized by the Legal Department for compliance and document management.
  • Coordinates, prepares and files other miscellaneous Company compliance filings.
  • Under supervision of federal regulatory counsel, assists in research of and answering questions related to federal laws and regulations and compliance with the same (examples include FERC Electric Quarterly Reports, FERC Forms 1, 3Q, 714, 715 and 552, Dodd-Frank Act reporting requirements, and NERC/WECC standards).
  • Under supervision of federal regulatory counsel, advises on tariff matters, assists with and reviews service agreements and other compliance matters.
  • Assists in overseeing adherence to Company federal compliance programs (examples include the Company's FERC, NERC/WECC and Dodd-Frank Act compliance programs).
  • Assists in overseeing and coordinating Company responses to and participation in audits by federal regulators and internal reviews of compliance; interface with Company internal and external auditors.
  • Interfaces and communicates with regulators.
  • Assists and coordinates preparation of applicable self-reports and mitigation plans related to any probable violation.
  • Provides updates as requested on status of assigned compliance matters, whether to direct supervisor or others in the organization, including relevant compliance committee(s).
  • Develops and maintains knowledge and understanding of assigned FERC and NERC/WECC regulatory processes and other assigned federal regulatory processes.
  • Interfaces and networks with counterparts at other utility companies, regulators and trade associations regarding federal regulatory matters.
  • As directed by regulatory counsel, attends technical conferences, regulatory proceedings, and industry-related and compliance-related meetings and trainings; travel may be required.
  • Provides other general legal and/or compliance-related support to the Legal Department as needed, including serving as back-up to other Federal Regulatory Coordinators.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
