Summary Statement:

The Product Manager, working closely with the Product Category Manager and/or General Manager, has responsibility for growth and profitability of a Megger product or products as assigned within a product category. A Product Manager may have responsibility for products within more than one product category. This role has full exposure and responsibility for the entire product life cycle including: ideation, product development, product testing, marketing launch, sustaining and end of life management (EOL).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess the global markets for technology, work practice, economic, and social trends that impact electricity generation, transmission, and maintenance testing methodologies in order to develop
  • Megger product strategies that complement the trends and associated testing methodologies.
  • Understand Megger corporate strategic competitive advantages in order to propose and define products that can be financially successful within these advantages.
  • Accountability for Product(s) profitability, expected to identify/recommend improvement opportunities to the facility management team.
  • Work individually or with a team of Product Managers to continually define/refine assigned products' market competition and Megger's product market position (supporting Megger M.A.S.T.).
  • Integrate research, market studies and market analysis and voice of the customer into product roadmaps and development requirements.
  • Create Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) driving definition & implementation of product strategies with our engineering, manufacturing, marketing, service, technical support and sales teams.
  • Critical functional tasks include but are not limited to: analyzing the current technology and test trends in the global market places, ideating product concepts and strategies, creating strategic and tactical product development roadmaps, creating product requirements documents (PRDs), creating Megger project approved development plans (ADPs), leading realization of defined product visions, developing product launch support materials, manage product pricing, plan and communicate product obsolescence, and provide product sales support.
  • Participation in product forecasting and production planning via business S&OP process.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing teams to identify and participate in product value engineering projects.
  • Participate in creations, reviews, and approvals of the Megger VF ECN & Deviation processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skill Sets and Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of development, qualification testing, manufacturing, and field trial of products.
  • BA/BS graduate, technical discipline preferred, advanced degrees viewed as differentiator.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Product Manager position/role over electronic products.
  • Technical understanding of electricity generation & transmission network asset field test applications.
  • Knowledge of electricity generation & transmission industry and markets.
  • Understanding of sales strategy and tactics in support of creating precise, effective sales tools.
  • Demonstrated track record of executing assignments by guiding/directing the work outputs of cross-functional team members, using professional sphere of influence and documented work processes.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and rationalize product data to conclusion (sales, RMA, price, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Product Structure creation and control via Engineering Change processes.

Additional Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of High Voltage (HV) product applications and usage. Ability to define and/or adhere to HV Safe Handling practices.
  • Equal skill working effectively independently or within small teams.
  • Ability to recognize and diffuse difficult situations
  • Visible advocate for product and customer service quality and associated process improvements.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must be proficient in Power Point, Excel, and Word.
  • Attention to detail mentality with appreciation of project budgets and deadlines is essential.
  • Strong ability to Multi-Task with demonstrated ability to get things done.
