In this role you will join a team of QA and development engineers working with new releases of firmware for our network devices. You will design test plans to cover new products and features, execute and automate tests to verify embedded software and new functionality, document test results, investigate test failures and document bugs in our issue tracking system. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of embedded systems, QA processes, wireless networks, and network protocols, experience developing automated test suites, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential functions
- Technical and project leadership.
- Actively design test plans and processes.
- Release quality firmware with measurable results.
- Work with engineering (software, hardware, manufacturing), program and product managers, and customer facing team members to create test processes, test specifications, test cases for sanity, integration, regression, alpha, beta and production testing.
- Report and track bugs, debug issues to root cause.
Required Experience:
- Project management and team leadership.
- Plan and drive firmware releases on predictable schedules.
- Hands-on experience to execute, debug, and automate tests for distributed embedded systems and applications. Includes negative, performance and stress tests to increase code and functional test coverages.
- Automation development (Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash). Create and extend automated test suites or test frameworks.
- Debug and read C in embedded software.
- An understanding of testing, software release engineering, build management including source control, bug tracking, and system level testing for product release to customer.
- Hands-on experience with digital electronics and network equipment.
- 10+ years of experience in software, distributed systems and integration testing and debugging hardware, software, and networks.
Education
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
