Department Overview

The Total Rewards team plans, designs, and implements PG&E's employee and executive compensation and benefits programs that add competitive value and drive alignment to key business objectives. The Compensation, Processes and Technology group is responsible for developing and administering compensation administration processes and technology.

Position Summary

Provides compensation analysis, benchmarking, reporting, and problem solving in support of the company's corporate compensation programs. Participates in compensation surveys, performs survey job matching, and conducts ad-hoc benchmarking and market research. Analyzes compensation data. Prepares analysis, data modeling, and costing. Supports the annual pay planning process. Creates internal process documentation and recommend enhancements.Participates in the development of company-wide compensation policies and standards. Monitors use of job codes and titles and collaborates to fix issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs complicated data analysis, interprets results, and shares findings with department managers.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of compensation strategy to solve complex problems and develop original solutions.
  • Communicates directly with line management to resolve moderately complex issues (such as job documentation, job benchmarks, BU market pricing, etc.).
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams (such as HRSC, Recruiting, Payroll, Legal, Finance) to implement improvements related to Compensation and cross-functional processes
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations governing compensation programs
  • Seeks opportunities for process improvements and recommends solutions for implementation
  • Manages medium- and large-scale projects (such as new software implementation, STIP metrics process, Compensation department metrics, etc.)

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  •  Experience in data analysis, 6 years
  • Experience in compensation, 4 years

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • CCP-Certified Compensation Professional certification
  • Experience in compensation, 6 years
  • Experience in vendor management
  • Experience as HR Business Partner, Compensation Consultant, or other client-facing role in Human Resources
  • Experience in utility or regulated environment
  • Experience with bargaining unit compensation
  • Knowledge of statistical theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and analyses as needed to perform at the job level
  • Ability to solve simple and complex problems involving arithmetic.
  •  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products - for example Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access - as needed to perform at the job level
  • Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local compensation regulations and programs - for example Fair Labor Standards Act, National Labor Relation Act, Equal Pay Act, Civil Rights Act - as needed to
  • perform at the job level
  • Knowledge of database and information systems - for example SCADA, EMS, OMT, OIS, SAP, ERP, COSO, Teradata, COBIT, QuestionMark - as needed to perform at the job level
