We are seeking a Safety Specialist, a self-directed professional with a passion for safe work and professional driving performance.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Champion, coach, and promote occupational and motor vehicle safety programs for Virginia Natural Gas.
  • Interpret OSHA/DOT regulations/legislation and implement incident prevention programs.
  • Conduct incident investigations, present findings to leadership, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead like a coach and influence others without direct authority.
  • Serve as the liaison between corporate safety, site operations, and state/local regulators.

Education and Certifications/Licenses:

BS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other related technical or science degree.

Preferred: Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), PMP (Project Management Professional) OR equivalent.

Requirements:

To achieve success in this position, you have likely played a key role in facilitating safety initiatives for 200 employees. Our environment is governed by OHSA and DOT regulations so similar experience will be beneficial. Your prior experience working with field employees, especially focused on occupational and motor vehicle safety, and helping them understand that zero incidents is possible, will align well with this position. As a site safety professional or military veteran, you have interacted with local leadership team members and corporate/compliance related departments. Education (HS diploma, AA, BA/BS, Master) and certifications (Certified Safety Professional- CSP, Certified Industrial Hygienist- CIH) are important, but it is how you've applied this knowledge that is most critical.

This position is part of a job family that spans from entry level to advanced safety compliance positions. Specific position title will be based on years of experience and education; demonstrated knowledge, skills & ability; complexity of programs administered, risk and responsibility, and budgetary value managed.
