Description
This position reports to the Southern Power Company (SPC) National Markets Business Development Director. It is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director and employees in the National Markets Business Development organization.  Job expectations include managing day-to-day office operations, expense statement and P-Card processing, invoice processing, check request handling, meeting planning and support, travel arrangement support, timekeeping, calendar management, telephone coverage, office supply inventory management, general office area support, presentation preparation and editing, organization of documents, filing, and various special projects. The use of office tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages, and calendar and mail systems are key requirements for this role. Working closely and efficiently with others on the administrative support team is also a key requirement for this role.

LOCATION: This position will be located at The Energy Center in Birmingham, AL

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- College experience or degree desired

Experience
- Experience in budgeting procedures and understanding of financial concepts highly desired
- Previous secretarial/administrative work experience performed at a high level of proficiency in traditional office environment required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Outlook required
- Proficiency in other Microsoft applications (such as Sharepoint) and in Southern Company systems is strongly desired (STARS, iExpense, Scott, Cool Compliance, etc.). Must be able to  learn them quickly if no direct experience.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Experience with calendar management and booking travel desired
