Job Brief

Regularly provides engineering services, as a recognized leader and authority in the industry, in a broad area or specialization or in a narrow but intensely specialized field. Provides project/program management for organizational projects/programs of major scope and importance with full technical and program responsibility. These functions are fulfilled in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost effective manner to enable SRP to realize its goals and objectives for providing water and energy related services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs special technical studies as required. Special technical studies include Electro Magnetic Transient analysis, Transient Recovery Voltage, Sub Synchronous Resonance,Sub Synchronous Control Interaction, Harmonics, Delayed Zero Crossing, and other studies as required.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for transmission planning at SRP, including providing guidance and direction on interconnection of large generator projects (solar, battery, gas, etc.), large load customers, and wires to wires interconnections.
  • Provides mentorship and training to all less experienced transmission planning engineers with the focus on elevating the technical understanding and skill of the Transmission Planning group
  • Leads special technical projects from conception through completion. Coordinates efforts with internal and external groups to ensure success of the project. Provides regular written and oral updates to management, and prepares and delivers presentations when required
  • Acts as a technical liaison to executive management, internal research and development groups, academic and research entities, specialty consultants, and regional transmission planning entities
  • Performs as a technical staff consultant and/or advisor with respect to Transmission Planning, identifies the need for an application of advanced concepts, principles and processes to improve Salt River Project (SRP) transmission planning practices
  • Represents SRP in legal and regulatory matters or proceedings of technical nature when required
  • Actively participates in research related to Transmission Planning concepts including attending research conferences and workshops. Provides guidance and direction to SRP on how to best invest SRP dollars in research efforts

14 years professional experience actively engaged in engineering plus professional recognition.

Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work as defined for this position.
