Summary
Minnesota Energy Resources, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Gas Distribution Designer in our Rochester, MN location. A Gas Distribution Designer provides design/estimate for main infrastructure and larger gas service projects. They contribute to work methods needed to complete the project and provide work direction to contractor for construction methods according to company standards. This position has a starting hourly wage of $35.26.
Job Duties:
- Provides Construction/Maintenance Plans including operating design tools, evaluating construction methods, specifying materials, and coordinating plans with construction contractor.
- Prepare construction costs by calculating material/labor costs, applying extension rules and process work requests utilizing customer information for loads to complete customer extension model after estimate is completed, communicate contract/contribution to various parties for customer initiated requests, and obtain appropriate permits.
- Coordinate with other departments for specialty reviews (i.e. Environmental) for additional permitting needs.
- Complete construction packet to show construction methods, permits, detailed maps showing design notes for tie-ins, location, and/or depths, design details, complete closing of work request/project, review documentation from construction contractor for completeness, prepare job pack for mapping, and create as built documentation for record Retention.
- Design/estimate of larger projects initiated by company (new area surcharges, integrity mains) can be estimated by Engineer or Manager for budgeting purposes.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal/professional networks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1+ years - basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database pc software
- 1+ years - CADD and Software/Drafting
