Job Description
Supports our power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Risk & Controls/Performance Management organization.
Working independently, the software developer will lead and participate in the design, coding, testing and delivery of software solutions that are consistent with AEP standards and practices. The successful candidate will be part of out centralized Business Technology/Performance Management organization, which supports our power Transmission & Distribution Organization. The developer must lead and function as a member of a team and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle. san advanced level of proficiency in skills and knowledge.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:
1) Design, develop or modify code according to AEP standards and practices
2) Identify and remove software defects
3) Give direction as technical lead and works with team members
4) Provide solution ideas and direction
5) Use software testing tools to assure the creation of software having the fewest defects
6) Lead and participate in Code reviews
7) Share responsibility and assist team members in achieving goals
8) Communicate effectively with others.
9) Mentor peers and junior software developers
10) Participate in the standards process
11) Collaborate with architect, analyst, project manager and customers
Minimum Requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education requirements are listed below:
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science
- OR Associates Degree in Computer Science with 2 years of IT Software Developer experience
- OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of IT Software Developer experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
Typically 12 or more years in dominant project language or related experience (in addition to any experience identified above).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Physical demand level is Sedentary
1. Licenses/Certifications: Certification in technology relevant to position Preferred.
2. May require hours outside of normal workday.
Preferred Requirements:
- Familiarity with PLMP / Project Management / Project Controls / Planning / Budgeting / Forecasting - strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of PL-SQL and Oracle databases - strongly preferred
- Familiarity with data analysis & reporting (from requirements to report generation) - strongly preferred
- Familiarity with integration / ETL concepts - nice to have
- Familiarity with batch processing / scheduling software (Windows / Linux command line / AutoSys / cron) - nice to have
- Familiarity with utility businesses - nice to have
- Familiarity with Scrum concepts & task estimation - nice to have
- Familiarity with ticketing & task management systems - nice to have
