The Manager of Regulatory Affairs will be responsible for managing AESCE's positions and relationships at FERC,  policy positions at the Regional and Independent Transmission Organizations ("RTO/ISO"), and take the lead on state PUC/PSC filings and policy positions in key states. They will assist in the establishment of corporate strategies, policies and plans that align with regulations, and policies in the markets where AESCE works.  Additionally, the Senior Manager will identify potential policy changes or modifications that may benefit the business and communicate those to internal teams to assist in developing strategy.  A key function will be maintaining and nurturing relationships at regulatory bodies and their staffs, associated authorities, committees, and other partner organizations. This person will have a strong understanding of AESCE's assets and products and be a capable communicator and team player.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage AESCE's policy and filing priorities at FERC, the RTO/ISOs and state PUCs.
  • Liase with other AESCE teams (Development, Origination, Markets) to understand policy impacts to projects and clean energy products .
  • Develop regulatory positions and strategies to promote priorities and offset potential roadblocks to development and new products.
  • Work with appropriate associations or NGOs to further AESCE's regulatory work.
  • Hire and manage regulatory attorneys (in conjunction with legal) and consultants to assist policy priorities.
  • Manage a regulatory budget .
  • Coordinate policy priorities, relationship management and communications with AESCE Strategy Team.

Requirements:

  • 7 to 9 + years of experience in regulatory policy or law.
  • A law degree and relevant legal experience preferred.
  • Experience in the energy sector with a preference for renewable energy experience.
  • Strong experience and proven skills in understanding the regulatory process at state, RTO/ISO and FERC.
  • Exceptional analytical skills in understanding policy impacts to energy development and pricing.
  • Communication skills: ability to develop and deliver concise powerful messages verbally, in writing and in presentations .
  • Unwavering ethics and strong moral compass in all transactions.
