POSITION SCOPE:
The Team Leader is responsible and accountable for the continuous safe and efficient operations and/or maintenance of an assigned functional area of responsibility. Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising and teaching to others through day to day contact. Directs, monitors and evaluates performance of direct reports within the reporting organization. Prepares equipment repair plans that require complex switching orders, high risk JSA or detail electrical troubleshooting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates, monitors, and supervises the activities of the direct reports ensuring individual member goals are achieved in support of assigned Team goals
- Develop scopes and specifications for contract work. Directs contractors when required to maintain and repair electrical equipment, systems and components.
- Substation Maintenance. Troubleshoot and coordinate activities in high voltage substation. Analyze pre and post trip data. Analyze power equipment, breaker control schemes, transformer, motors and relaying protection schemes.
- Develop switching orders, review one-lines, electrical safety plans and oversee switching activities. Plan, direct and supervise small scale high, med and low voltage equipment repairs.
- Coordinate switchyard maintenance activities with Power Distribution Group
- Electrical safety coordination and planning. Administer 70E policies, IPL low voltage standards, substation standards, insulated tool testing, and electrical safety audits.
- Plan and supervise electrical projects such as transformer repairs or replacement, specialized electrical testing, mid voltage switchgear repairs, and develop recovery plans for equipment failures.
- Analyzes and solves problems and assists Maintenance personnel with installation, maintenance, controls and repairs of electrical equipment. Develop solutions to correct chronic reliability issues that require detail troubleshooting, high risk JSAs or RCA.
- Analyze thermography and testing reports and develop repair plans.
- Plant Administration of NERC PRC-005-2 Battery Standard
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degreed applicants with seven (7) years experience in power plant industry, substation or industrial electrical maintenance preferred (or) Non-degreed candidates with ten (10) years experience in power plant industry, substation or industrial electrical maintenance
- Five (5) years of recent verifiable experience in a supervisory role a plus
- Successful experience participating in and managing work team activates
- Proficient personal computer skills to include CMMS, Excel, Word and Access
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Results oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field from an accredited college/university
- Project management certification
- Knowledge and use of Industry Standards such as IEEE, NFPA, NEC, ANSI , and EPRI
- Experience with Arc Flash Analysis, ETAP, SKM
- High, med and low voltage equipment and Soft Starters, VFD, DC Controls and motors.
- Instrumentation and controls experience a plus
- PLC (Allen Bradley, RxLogic), Boolean logic and DCS experience a plus
- Willingness and ability to learn/teach
- Ability to support a 24 x 7 operation
