As our Senior/Principal EMS and Energy Market System Engineer, you will immediately help MISO design, maintain, and support the Energy Management System (EMS) and energy market software that is run 24x7 by MISO's control room.
Our Engineering Services team is seeking innovative team players to advance the EMS advanced network applications and Market optimization applications. As the electric utility industry is facing unprecedented change due to digitalization, decentralization, and decarbonization, we are seeking to grow our team to meet these challenges head on.
The scale and real-time nature of these applications present complex and unique challenges which require creative solutions. As our Senior/Principal EMS and Energy Market System Engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled team that is responsible for designing and integrating new logic and features into these systems, collaborating with vendors on enhancements, testing, validating, and supporting new releases. Engineers assigned to support the control room are expected to participate in on-call rotation support and will receive additional compensation.
You will also have the opportunity to work on projects such as EMS Upgrade and Day Ahead market system upgrad
In one year as our Senior/Principal EMS and Energy Market System Engineer, you will know you were successful if:
You can independently support the Energy Management System by answering inquiries raised by your customers, or,
You can independently support the Energy Market System by answering inquiries raised by your customers, and,
By applying your creativity, identify process gaps and generate ideas for process improvement
We are looking for talented professionals who have:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or four+ years of applicable internal MISO experience with a related Engineering degree
At least four years of utility, transmission operations, real-time operations, wholesale energy market or related experience
We would also prefer candidates with the following experience:
EMS application design, operation, or support (including network models, contingency analysis, state estimator, etc.)
Electric energy market design, operation, or support (including optimization, economics, system engineering, etc.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
