As an Apprentice Meter Tester & Installer, you will perform electrical work for primary and secondary electrical facilities.

Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to:
The apprenticeship for Meter Tester & Installer consists of six, 6-month training steps. To progress from one apprenticeship period to the next, the apprentice must successfully complete of all requirements of the six (6) training steps including written, oral, and demonstration skill tests learned through on the job and classroom training.
Repair, maintain, test, calibrate, modify/install electrical, mechanical, electronic or magnetic measuring devices.
Prepare reports, technical manuals/data, principles of electricity, and measurement and computations related to meter testing and Installation.
Assist in construction, maintenance, relocation, diagnosis of problems and repair of primary and secondary electrical facilities in a safe, efficient, and focused manner.
Work as directed to assist in the restoration of electric service.

Basic Qualifications:
Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics or Electrical Technology or completion of three (3) years of an electrical formal training program in electrical, electronics, engineering, or related technical discipline and/or military experience.

o A formal training program can include an electrical apprentice program, electrical trade school, IBEW or IEC electrical training program or related electrical program for Journeyman or Electrician level.

Minimum two (2) years of experience in electrical, electronics, engineering or related technical field.
Valid drivers license
Required to remain in the Greater Houston area during emergency events, maintain prompt attendance and available for extended shifts (7 days per week and 24 hours per day).
Work in outdoor environment while exposed to heat, cold, rain, humidity, as well as exposure to other normal air quality issues associated with industrial areas.

Working Conditions:
Able to pass a company medical evaluation and must be able to distinguish colors, have depth perception, and have hearing correctable to hear instructions or warnings from a person stationed on/around construction equipment.
Able to endure strenuous physical exertion and have the dexterity to utilize hand and power tools.
Able to wear full respirators, as necessary.
Ability to lift, push, pull and lower loads manually and using blocks and rope.
Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time.
Ability to climb and perform work on utility poles and/or ladders.
Ability to work in aerial devices at heights of 60 ft.
Ability to successfully complete the hurt man rescue.
Body weight must not exceed 310 pounds based on the use of weight-restricted equipment necessary to perform tasks.
