This role focuses on the coordination and design of customer service installations, system and civic improvements. Specific work varies by area:
Downtown Network Engineering - Coordinates and designs all customer service installations, system and civic improvement projects in the Downtown Network System.
Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Downtown Network Engineering - coordinates and designs system improvements such as new vault installations, primary cable upgrades, secondary grid upgrades, system reconfigurations and equipment replacements; designs Downtown Network System extensions and new vault installations to serve new customers; coordinates and designs Downtown Network System relocations to accommodate civic improvement projects; updates Downtown Network System maps.
- Perform all coordination with external agencies such as the City of San Antonio, SAWS, AT&T, etc.
- Conduct field surveying with UIO crews for the design and installation for each job.
- Develops job sketches using CADD drafting and perform map As-builds.
- Develops construction job packages specifying material, equipment and labor requirements for each job.
- Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned.

- Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision
- Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communications skills for interaction within the section, across departmental lines to all levels of personnel, and vertically with management.
- Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results
- Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers and the main office
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
- Ability to set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with customers and support teams.
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal behaviors toward CPS Energy, associates, and customers consistent with company core values.
Preferred Qualifications
Depending on business area, preferred knowledge needed in items such as:
Designer/GIS, ARM, CADD drafting and SAP
Downtown Network design and construction standards
Electric Service Standards
Relative experience in supporting utility construction & maintenance
