JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, consultative & results driven professional to join our team in the role of Quality Engineer / Officer in our Darlington location.
Reporting to the Section Manager, Integration & Metrics, Darlington Refurbishment, the Quality Engineer / Officer will assist in providing technical evaluations and assessments related to the Darlington Refurbishment Project within Ontario Power Generation
This role is accountable for carrying out quality oversight activities to support the company's business goals. This position calls for an excellent communicator with highly effective interpersonal skills as the Quality Engineer / Officer will interact with various external groups to ensure that standards and practices approved for use in Canada are compatible with the business interests and OPG's legal requirements

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Act as team leader and perform evaluations, investigations, and surveillance of vendor work in support of the Darlington Refurbishment Project.
- Conduct programmatic assessments on an as needed basis to identify deficiencies and to drive improvements.
- Promote the concept of quality improvement via the development of new programs and the delivery of (specialized) training - as needed.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of various divisional programs.
- Track the status of outstanding corrective actions, and be responsible for the development and operation of applicable databases associated with the Quality Information System.
EDUCATION
- 4 year university degree, Engineering preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (or equivalent) an asset
- Related ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CQPA, CRE, or CSQE) are an asset
- Experience in the use and administration of Corrective Action programs are an asset
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in quality engineering, quality surveillance, program oversight or equivalent;
- Experience working in a Quality position preferably within the Nuclear sector; Aerospace, Defense, or Manufacturing sectors will also be considered;
- Knowledge and experience of Canadian and international quality assurance standards and requirements;
- Experience with performing initial evaluations, investigations, audits and surveillance of quality assurance (QA) programs and related safety programs;
- Problem solving skills and experience with technical studies and evaluations;
- Experience with computer software including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PassPort;
- Thorough understanding and working experience with Quality Assurance regulations, standards, guidelines, and codes;
- Reporting preparation, and strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with people;
- A results oriented, efficient & value oriented focus, excellent verbal and written communicator, with high integrity to uphold company values;
- Valid Driver's License in good standing;
