Regularly provides engineering services for major organizational programs with full technical responsibility as a project/program leader or in an advanced area of technical specialty, in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost effective manner to enable SRP to realize its goals and objectives for providing water and energy related services.
Job Responsibilities
Serves as an SRP expert on all technical aspects of Inverter Based Resources (IBR) with an emphasis on Bulk Power System IBRs.
Performs as a staff consultant and/or advisor with respect to the integration and Operational Readiness of IBRs.
Leads engineering design, analysis, and studies related to the integration and application of IBRs.
Participate in technical design and deployment of IBR projects and general guidance on these efforts.
Plans and develops the scope, approval, and implementation of major engineering projects
Monitor the market for changes related to intermittent resources, and evaluates those for applicability to SRP, and makes recommendations to management.
Administers and reviews work performed by consultants and others.
Develop and builds peer utility relationships.
Present on technical topics to stakeholders across SRP.
Serves on industry committees and task forces as a representative of SRP.
Conducts training for general awareness and with end-users.
Experience
14 years professional experience actively engaged in engineering plus professional recognition.
Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work as defined for this position.
Authored internal and/or external technical papers.
Additional Experience
Experience working with IBR at the Bulk Power System level and Distributed Energy Resources.
Experience testing and commissioning IBRs including the development and improvement of testing/commissioning plans.
Experience developing and modifying Power Purchases Agreements for IBRs.
Experience in the IBR application of ancillary services including frequency response, regulation, voltage control, replacement reserves, contingency reserves and black start.
Experience in developing dynamic risk based reserve strategies and tools to perform those functions.
Experience in the development and implementation of advanced probabilistic solar forecasting tools.
Experience in the valuation of IBRs for energy, capacity, ancillary services and other value streams.
Experience working with IEEE, EPRI, NERC, FERC, WECC and CAISO with demonstrated success.
Experience in the application and integration of IBRs in a structured market such as an ISO or RTO.

If internal, Candidates must attain a Valued Contributor or better rating on their annual performance review for the last three years.
Responsible for budgets, schedules, and management of resources for programs and projects of major scope. Demonstrated network of internal and external contacts including customers, outside agencies, and suppliers of significant equipment and services. Occasional travel to suppliers' facilities, industry functions, and SRP facilities. Ability to work effectively with various organizations within SRP. Ability to use engineering tools required for the job. Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to work effectively with SRP executive management.
EDUCATION
Completion of a bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).
AND
1) Additional specialty training (MS Engineering, MBA, or 36 graduate level college semester hours)
OR
2) Any state or internationally recognized Professional Engineering registration by the International Professional Engineers Agreement. plus additional specialty training (MS Engineering, MBA, or 18 graduate level college semester hours).
Certifications or Testing Required
Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver's license.
