We are seeking a talented Business Relationship Manager to join our dynamic team and play a key role in fostering collaborations, strategic planning, and project management across various departments.
What you will do
- Meeting Facilitation: Engage with staff at all levels of the organization to facilitate meetings, discussions, and workshops.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term strategic planning efforts, assisting in identifying opportunities and addressing challenges to achieve our business goals.
- Solution Finding: Act as a consultant to assist in finding innovative and practical solutions to business problems faced by different teams and departments.
- Relationship Building: Develop and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. Your ability to build trust and communicate effectively will be critical to success.
- Point of Contact: Serve as a point of contact between IT and other business units, facilitating effective communication and collaboration on technology-related matters.
- Project Management: Shepherd projects from inception to completion, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with business objectives.
- Systems Future Planning: Initiate conversations and assessments regarding the future of existing systems to ensure they remain relevant and contribute to the company's growth.
What you bring
- Proven experience in a business relationship management role or similar position.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to strategic planning and solution finding.
- Familiarity with IT concepts and technology trends.
- Project management experience and the ability to shepherd projects from conception to completion.
- Knowledge of IT Governance and fiscal responsibility principles related to technology initiatives.
- Adaptability to work across a broad variety of areas and the willingness to learn about our industry and company to build strong business acumen.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)
Level I
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or 5 to 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience, or a combination of related training and experience.
- At least 3 years of business analysis experience, e.g. developing business use cases, business requirements, process documentation, test plans, etc.
- At least 2 years of experience in leadership (teams, projects, etc.) and planning.
- Understanding of project management concepts.
- Focus on customer service.
- Able to set and manage expectations with business partners.
- Able to listen, build rapport, and credibility with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Can serve as business relationship manager for one business area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the utility business is preferred.
- Business Relationship Management Institute certification (at least Business Relationship Management Professional) is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience working on project teams.
- Collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills.
- Knowledge of the utility business experience is preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of core business relationship management functions: strategic partnering, business transition management, provider domain knowledge, business IQ, portfolio management, powerful communications.
- Familiarity with the concepts of demand-shaping and value realization.
- Able to communicate technical or complex subject matter in business terms.
- Able to perceptively adjust content to the needs of the audience.
Level II
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 3 years of leadership experience and 3 years developing and executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios.
- Highly skilled at creating business requirements documents, use cases, user acceptance test plans, process flow and data flow diagrams.
- Diplomacy: able to influence and motivate others using personal skill rather than positional power.
- Foundational knowledge of core business relationship management functions: strategic partnering, business transition management, provider domain knowledge, business IQ, portfolio management, powerful communications.
- An outside-in focus: outstanding end-customer relationship skills.
- Effective communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting.
- Demonstrated acumen, curiosity, and passion for business and technology.
- Ability to set expectations with business partners and effectively leverage governance for a positive business partner experience.
- Highly self-motivated.
- Broad understanding of energy industry dynamics and trends.
- A strategic thinker focused on business value results that utilize technical solutions.
- Ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit or function, as well as with leadership and functional teams.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills across multiple levels and functions in the organization.
- Sufficient experience and depth of knowledge to serve as BRM for two business areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Business Relationship Management Institute certification (at least Certified Business Relationship Manager) is preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in the utility business.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills across multiple levels and functions in the organization.
- Possess strong knowledge of business economics and financial resources.
- Demonstrated application of core business relationship management functions: strategic partnering, business transition management, provider domain knowledge, business IQ, portfolio management, powerful communications.
- Able to apply conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques to achieve win-win outcomes.
- Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills across multiple levels and functions in the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence C-level executives to drive business value.
- Possess strong business acumen and deep understanding of at least one business area vertical - strategy, operations, issues, opportunities.
- Understanding of the IT industry, e.g. emerging technologies and trends, industry standards, solution architecture, and the vendor landscape.
- Able to perceptively adjust communication style and content to the needs of the audience.
- An exceptional listener, able to comprehend what is said and probe for important details.
