Job Description

Position Summary:

Subject matter expert for outdoor lighting products, suppliers, and best practices. Provides technical input such as product alternatives, system/feasibility studies, cost estimates, design and equipment operating parameters. Responsible for understanding, communicating, and leveraging the features and benefits of lighting products in order to drive best practices and industry leading solutions.

Primary Duties:

  • Perform lighting studies, participates in project pre-design meetings, evaluates and makes lighting product recommendations.
  • Facilitate the review and maintenance of lighting guidelines and specifications.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and training to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify product and process cost improvement opportunities.
  • Perform change management for lighting product offerings.
  • Analyze LED warranty and failure data to determine root cause.
  • Evaluate new suppliers, conduct product evaluations, and manage the lighting product offering.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations to obtain best value.
  • Proactively analyze material consumption and develop material forecasts including inventory models and replenishment strategies.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and maintain lighting marketing collateral including the lighting catalog.
  • Collaborate with and provides support to coordinators, field personnel, project management, engineering, and supply chain personnel.
  • Partner with Standards and Guides to serve as the Lighting liaison to ensure compliance.
  • Build and participate in supplier, municipal, and ODOT relationships.
  • Provide data and/or analytical support to Regulatory for rate case filings.
  • Monitor, manage, and analyze SLV outage data to determine route causes and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or other related technical degree, And 6 years of related experience (e.g., Utility Engineering, Utility Construction, Utility Operations, or Standards & Guides;
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or other related technical degree, And 8 years of related experience (e.g., Utility Engineering, Utility Construction, Utility Operations, or Standards & Guides;.
  • 11 years of related experience (e.g., Project Management, Utility Engineering, Utility Construction, Utility Operations, or Standards & Guides)..
  • Valid State Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in lighting design
  • Knowledge of Street Light Vision application

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with members at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements related to lighting.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in utility engineering and construction processes.
  • In depth knowledge of supply chain processes.
  • Knowledge of change management concepts and methods.
  • Good computer skills with strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications and related applications.
  • Good skills in the use of AGI32 Illumination Engineering, Street Light Vision software, and SAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task; manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction and guidance to others (e.g., Engineering, Project Management, external contractors, vendors, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively in order to propose new solutions for old and new issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within stringent deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, coordinate, and negotiate as required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of outdoor lighting industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate with various work groups including coordinators, field personnel, project management, engineering, Standards and Guides, supply chain, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • Primary work in office environment.
  • May be required to work non-standard work schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Based upon department resources, the nature of the work, and the size of the department, the ability to differentiate colors may be required for some positions.
  • May require travel.
