Job Summary

This position is open to current PSEG employees only.

This is a "Project" position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

This is a multi-level growth series position (Grade Level 25/26/27). The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process.

Job Responsibilities

This position is in the Electric T&D - Projects and Construction (P&C) organization and will act as a key contributor to the successful execution of Inside Plant (IP) and Outside Plant (OP) Transmission projects.  
Provide engineering and PM oversight and coordination for projects in the Electric T&D - Projects & Construction Portfolio.  These projects shall be handled from inception to successful completion in terms of safety, reliability, functional performance requirements, and timely completion and within scope and budget. 

Responsibilities include ensuring that all project objectives are successfully achieved (i.e., safely, within scope, on schedule and within budget); implementation of the P&C Project Management Program; lead project teams commensurate with project needs; interact with the local Electric / Gas Division management personnel throughout the State; and influence / negotiate with State and Federal agencies and the relative Electric / Gas Division management personnel for shared resources.  The Engineer will provide support to the Project Manager to whom they are assigned.  Specific tasks will include preparation of project documents from inception to closeout; facilitation of weekly construction and engineering meetings; assisting to coordinate scope and deliverables between all stake holders, such as engineering, L&P, PMO and construction.  In addition, the Engineer will prepare all monthly reports such as MIH.  The Engineer may be asked to develop, prepare and update deliverables as needed by the project team.  When the Project Manager is not available, the Engineer may be called upon to speak on behalf of the project.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. degree in civil, electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering
  • Minimum 0-2 years' of engineering experience
  • Broad knowledge of electric / gas transmission, distribution operations or generation
  • Familiarity with inside / outside plant assets
  • Knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices, including financial and cost management, acquired through progressive experience
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office applications
  • The job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events; therefore, candidate must possess a valid U.S. driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed
