Description

Position Summary
Manages the company's Marketing activities directed to consumers, businesses, and business partners to increase natural gas awareness, promote natural gas preference, and grow and retain the customer base. Position Washington Gas as the preferred source of clean and efficient energy solutions and as a trusted advisor through targeted communications that deliver top-quartile customer satisfaction. Works closely with others across the organization to identify and pursue new marketing and outreach opportunities to drive profitable growth and retention. Stays abreast of market data, customer trends and marketing best practices to ensure that the company is delivering the right message to the right stakeholder via the channel at the right time.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manages the work of the corporate Marketing Department, including hiring, training, performance management, compensating, motivating, and developing value drivers and procedures meet our goals.
  • Develops and manages the annual marketing plan and budget with team for review by Director and Vice President.
  • Champions consistent use of Washington Gas brand to ensure cultivation of strong brand representation in all external communications.
  • Establishes procedures and protocols to consistently develop, launch, and manage marketing campaigns.
  • Develops and manages comprehensive marketing strategy and campaign delivery plan across portfolio of campaigns, platforms and offerings within agreed upon budget.
  • Identifies meaningful brand, marketing, and campaign success metrics and uses resulting data to improve campaign effectiveness.
  • Monitors, reviews, and reports on all marketing activities and performance against goals.
  • Works closely with counterparts throughout the organization to ensure efficient coordination of activities and increase effectiveness of marketing and sales efforts.
  • Gathers and uses market analysis and sales data to determine market requirements for existing and future offerings.
  • Monitors customer insights via research, consumer labs and other means to ensure the most relevant communications and modes of delivery are applied.
  • Manages creative agencies in the development of marketing collateral.
  • Key contributor to customer experience initiatives designed to improve customer interactions and touchpoints with the company.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (may substitute four years relevant experience in lieu of degree) preferred
  • Master's Degree of business administration or related field (can be substituted for a year of experience) preferred
  • 7+ Years experience in marketing, sales, advertising or marketing communications required
  • 2-4 Years supervisory or team leadership experience required
  • Demonstrated successful track record of addressing marketing challenges through the development and implementation of dynamic and effective marketing and branding campaigns.
  • Working knowledge of the energy and/or natural gas field helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and analyze multiple scenarios in solving broadly defined or complex business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex messages to diverse audiences at all organization levels.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.
