ABOUT THE ROLE

Senior Communications Advisors are accountable for maintaining the public image and brand of the organization. They must develop and implement strategic communication and proactive media relations initiatives that help the organization achieve its goals. Specifically, this position is accountable to oversee the company's social media strategy, develop and execute communications plans in support of the company's strategic corporate objectives; implement and integrate the company's communication strategy into the business unit(s) assigned; support the business unit(s) to design and implement core communications activities deemed as priorities; and look for ways to proactively communicate corporate and business unit(s) messages externally and internally, to support the overall strategy of the company.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable to deliver a program of key public relations campaigns for the business area in line with the business unit strategy
  • Provide advice and support on the implementation of strategic communications activities
  • Able to provide writing and editing services; including but not limited to communications plans, briefing notes, portal stories, external corporate website stories, etc.
  • Contribute to the company's digital communications platforms (web and social media) to advance the business unit (s) objectives and contribute proof points to the company's strategic objectives
  • Works with media relations and digital communications colleagues to promote consistency of messaging and overall outreach to stakeholders, both internal and external, and across several mediums, including but not limited to, digital, print, video
  • Act as a brand ambassador externally and ensure brand principles are upheld internally

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline.
  • Five to eight years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated senior writing and editing abilities.
  • Proven experience leading corporate collateral projects and campaigns.  
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging digital communications channels to advance organizational goals.
  • Strong experience in website CMS and SEO (WordPress experience preferred).
  • Attention to detail and an eye for quality with the ability to identify key messages and distill complex information into concise and effective communications materials.
  • Time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines, prioritize and deal with uncertainty in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to identify communication needs and align varying perspectives to ensure consistency in overall communications perspective and strategy.
  • Knowledge and experience in social media content development, media relations and marketing.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven experience in creating effective corporate communications plans.
  • Experience in developing strategies and tactics to support business goals and objectives.
  • Adaptability and flexibility, including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change
  • Strong project management skills and organizational abilities including the ability to manage a number of complex projects and issues, on multiple and competing deadlines
  • Strong initiative, professional judgement, organizational skills and creative abilities
  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships across the company
  • Can work discreetly with leaders across the company
  • Actively seeks and creates opportunities to develop new skills and take on new tasks
  • Some knowledge of electricity sector is preferred.
