This position is responsible for the creation/modification of material specifications, construction standards and providing technical support in areas such as root cause analysis of adverse incidents including equipment failures and power quality issues. This position supports technology demonstration projects, provides engineering support to regulatory and legal organizations on an as-needed basis and participates with industry and regulatory organizations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

 Directly or through others, the incumbent:

  • Develops, implements and communicates new/updated standards, specifications and guidelines
  • Leads teams to gather requirements, establish cross-functional processes, strategies, and applications which enhance Oncor's asset management capabilities
  • PLS-CADD modeling, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, wire selection, etc.
  • Researches and evaluates new materials, products and applications
  • Leads root cause analysis efforts to evaluate failures, and leverages information realized through this process to develop, implement, and refine, data driven maintenance programs.
  • Participates in engineering standard organizations and other industry specific organizations
  • Provides legal and regulatory support as needed
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements

Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Must be flexible, have organizational skills, and multi-task skills to handle diverse types of work
  • Must effectively work across disciplines and functions to achieve common goals and company business purposes
  • Capable of working with people of divergent backgrounds
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills for effective relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex subject matter and company issues to vendors and Oncor Electric Delivery employees
  • Knowledge in multiple areas related to power industry subject matters preferred
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)

 Staff Engineer

  • Capable of being licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant engineering experience preferred
  • High level of knowledge in at least one applicable subject matter

Senior Engineer

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant engineering experience preferred
  • High level of knowledge in multiple applicable subject matters

Preferences

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience in the electric power industry
