Summary
The essential job functions of the New Construction Manager require the employee to serve as the primary contact for residential, commercial, and industrial developers to determine new or expanded service needs.
The New Construction Manager must have knowledge of all Company policies, a general knowledge of accepted distribution system standards, and a complete understanding of distribution infrastructure layout serving new customers.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Perform all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with builders, developers, city personnel, and customers to proactively meet customer needs.
- Provide project management services from inception to completion to ensure reliable, economical, safe and timely extension of electric distribution services while meeting customer requirements and expectations.
- Resolve any company or customer issues concerning the extension of facilities, and proactively communicate concerns to management in an organized manner.
- Effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Actively participate in personal developmental planning and training to expand knowledge and opportunities.
- Understand the application of and effectively communicate the Company's line extension policy related to expansion of company facilities.
- Provide forecast of work activity and estimated project completion dates.
- Communicate with customers and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met.
- Education, Experience, & Skills
New Construction Manager I
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in a technical related curriculum or
- 3-7 years of direct or related experience in project management, construction, operations, engineering, or design.
- Demonstrated effective communication and negotiation skills needed to acquire and interface with customers.
- Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
New Construction Manager II
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in a technical related curriculum and 1-5 years of direct
or related experience in project management, construction, operations,
engineering, or design, or - 5-9 years of direct or related experience in project management, construction,
operations, engineering, or design - Demonstrated effective communication and negotiation skills needed to acquire
and interface with customers - Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as WMIS,
CC&B, Excel, Word, and Power Point
New Construction Manager III
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in a technical related curriculum and 3-7 years
of direct or related experience in project management, construction,
operations, engineering, or design, or - 7-11 years of direct or related experience in project management, construction,
operations, engineering, or design. - Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as WMIS,
CC&B, Excel, Word, and Power Point
New Construction Manager
- High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelors or Associates Degree in a
technical related curriculum preferred - 5 years of direct or related experience in project management, engineering, field
design, construction, or operations preferred - Demonstrated effective communication skills necessary for interface with
customers, external and internal functions - Proven negotiating skill and techniques needed to acquire new customers
- Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as WMIS,
CC&B, Excel, Word, and Power Point
New Construction Manager, Sr.
- Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree preferred in a related field or appropriate work related experience in project management, engineering, field design, construction and/or operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management and a minimum of 8-10 years of new
electric construction related experience in residential, commercial and
industrial markets - Demonstrated effective communication skills necessary for interface with
customers, external and internal functions - Proven negotiating skills and techniques needed to acquire new customers Requires experience managing multiple projects concurrently
- Proficient in the use of relevant computer systems and applications such as
WMIS, CC&B, Excel, Word, and Power Point
Dimensions
- Typically manages projects from $50,000 to $1,000,000 in cost including:
- Meet with customers and collect all necessary information and forms
- Negotiate and secure all required contracts for electric service delivery
- Key point of contact both internally and externally for project from inception to close
- Residential subdivisions and apartment complexes
- Commercial and Industrial customers

- Guides and educates customer on Oncor project procedures
- Partners with customers to develop realistic timelines and schedule
- Promotes and encourages safety awareness and provides positive contributions to the safety program
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively lead and direct the work of others
- Work effectively with management and other groups to achieve acceptable customer satisfaction
- Ability to manage projects from inception to close
- Consistently meet customer service expectations
NOTE: Currently eligible for the West Texas Wage Premium. Salary will vary upon position.*
*This premium will be reviewed periodically and may be adjusted up, down or possibly discontinued as changing conditions in West Texas warrant.
