Summary Statement
This Megger group content team is responsible for the development and implementation of the companys content strategy. This entails work in four principal areas:
- Experience design, which reflects how well Megger understands consumers and how well the companys content (i.e. the information and the overall experience Megger delivers) aligns with the consumers journeys what they want and need when they want and need it.
- Editorial design, which reflects the fundamental (consumer) thoughts that Megger wants to influence/cultivate, the impressions Megger plans to make, etc. through its content. While content planning attends to which subjects are being presented, editorial design plans subliminal messaging.
- Process design, or content management, that formulates synchronized processes resulting in consistent, high-quality content creation, translation, and maintenance across Megger; content reuse in other formats, content coordination, assessment of content performance, etc.
- Structure design, or content engineering, that facilitates quick, intuitive (internal/external consumer) connection to the content that consumers want.
The Senior Technical Writer plays a key role on this team by developing and editing technical content to be used across the world via all available delivery mediums. This role will also be an integral producer of content for Meggers knowledge base.
Core Objectives
- To present Meggers complex products and applications in easy to understand material with broad appeal.
- To develop and deliver educational material in presentations, webinars, videos, etc.
- To collaborate with the BDDs, product managers, engineers and TSG teams on the development of complete and grammatically sound written material.
- To write for and reach a variety of audiences, including non-technical end users.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Work with people in various disciplines across Megger to plan, research, write, and revise printed and online documentation.
- Write and publish a consistent string of articles in various external trade journals.
- Write and publish articles in the Electrical Tester magazine and on other internal platforms.
- Write technical support content for the Megger knowledge base.
- Work with other team members to provide editorial input on already written material.
- Translate complex technical information into easy to understand material with wide appeal.
- Present material at conferences, via webinars and on video as required.
- Be an active member of the Electrical Testers editorial board and production team.
- Keep abreast of new products and testing technologies as they are developed or emerge.
- Participate in industry working groups (IEEE, IEC, etc.) in areas of expertise.
- Special projects as defined by the Global Content Strategy Director.
- Strong writing and technical editing skills.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the electrical industry.
- Extensive electrical applications experience, including writing application articles and notes.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from engineering, support, and product management.
- Ability to efficiently and thoroughly address feedback on published content from both customers and internal support people.
