Position Summary
Establishes backup systems, technology design, operational standards and guidelines for backup software tools and infrastructure appliances, such as IBM Spectrum Protect, Dell EMC Avamar, Data Domain, DDBoost.
Job Responsibilities
- Assignments are based on extensive knoweledge of concepts, principles and best practices in standard backup technologies: IBM Spectrum Protect, Dell EMC Avamar, Data Domain, DDBoost and Power Protect Data Manager
- Collaborates with Project teams on solution design and implementation of standard backup technologies, processes, procedures and quality assurance.
- Provides tier 3 support to Operations teams and collaborates on the resolution of critical incidents
- Documents standard configurations, landscape and architecture diagrams of backup technologies
- Documents and tests Disaster Recovery plans for backup technologies
- Monitors capacity utilization and generates reports for capacity planning
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence on backup technologies
- Attends client meetings to provide subject matter expertise assistance
- Participates in backup architectural designs and roadmap
- Has a solid understanding of compliance processes and impact to client projects and operations
- Educates business partners on backup standards and policies
- Works with monitoring and reporting tools associated with backup technologies (e.g. Server Graph and Data Protection Advisor (DPA).
- Demonstrates the ability to work with fellow team members in an inclusive and collaborative atmosphere
- Mentors fellow backup administrators by sharing knowledge in a transparent and cooperative manner
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and a fluid operational environment
- Must be able to articulate verbally and in written format complex concepts into verbiage that is simple to understand for non-technical individuals
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Associates Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 4 years experience in Data Protection/Backup technology, or job related technical experience
Desired:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Job-related technical experience, 6 years
- Certification on at least one of the managed backup technologies
