JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, consultative and results driven professionals to join our team in the role of Senior Advisor Asset Management & Investment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role will support maximizing the profitability of investment decisions by operationalizing approved investment processes, developing new processes and tools as required and providing expert help for implementation across OPG.

The Senior Advisor Asset Management & Investment will maintain processes, procedures, and tools in support of corporate Asset Management and Investment Management Framework and recommend enhancements for improving planning, programming and investment decision processes across OPG.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain and keep current the corporate Investment Management Framework including processes, procedures and supporting toolkits for Business Case Summaries, Post Implementation Reviews and Life Cycle Planning
  • Provide Business Case assessment and post project review capability. If necessary, facilitate multi-disciplinary teams in conducting reviews, such as comprehensive post implementation reviews (PIR) on selective major projects
  • Support submissions and responses to the Ontario Energy Board
  • Undertake independent comprehensive assessments, financial evaluations, investigations, analyses and prepare reports, briefings/presentations, and recommendations on OPG projects and investment initiatives 
  • Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders in regards to procedures on planning, programming and decision analysis methods
  • Monitor and take steps to ensure compliance with Asset Management and Investment Management Framework 
  • Provide periodic reports to senior management on key results and lessons learned across OPG
  • Develop mitigation strategies and implement plans as necessary to ensure compliance and corporate requirements are met
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and new technical methods and recommend alternatives for improving OPG investment processes
  • Provide advice on investment decisions and strategic initiatives, which have operational, financial, public relations, environmental, health and/or safety implications
  • Provide user training and rollout on Asset Management and Investment Management processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Provide support to various Stakeholder groups throughout the OPG Enterprise for the continued development and improvement of the Asset Management Program (as required)

EDUCATION

  • 4 year University Degree is required; 
  • Master's of Business Administration (MBA) would be considered an asset 

 QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a professional with the following:

  • Minimum 6 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in highly regulated industry would be considered an asset
  • Strong strategic and external focus in order to identify and analyze critical business issues
  • Experience with various analytic techniques, analysis practices and methods to effectively integrate information from a number of sources and business perspectives.
  • Experience in reviewing and challenging Business Case Summaries
  • Knowledge of ISO55000 
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Project management experience would be considered an asset
  • Requires a knowledge of finance, economics and business policy, financial accounting, financial markets and investment analysis and diversification
  • Requires a knowledge of advanced quantitative methods and statistics, forecasting and risk analysis methodologies 
  • Financial modelling capability
  • Requires strong computer skills to evolve, enhance and support data management.
