Job Summary:
Provides leadership in the analysis, development, and implementation of effective and efficient business processes to enhance TVA performance. Leads and coordinates improvement initiatives and related financial decision support. Makes recommendations to the leadership team regarding enhancement opportunities and is capable of influencing decision making at all levels. Provides expert-level, technical automation and analytics guidance; understands and anticipates financial and operational system impacts of decisions and events; communicates TVA impacts of initiatives; and can communicate executive-level presentation material.
This position functions as a technical subject matter expert in the Business Analytics Group. Provides support and leadership in the design, automation, development and implementation of analytical models, tools and analysis for TVA. Supports the development and implementation of models to aid in project and business valuations and reallocation of savings related to enterprise domain transformation and similar projects. Supports FO&P automation and assists in building and maintaining an analytics center of excellence within the FO&P to aid in the development of acumen and skills. Leads analysis, projects and special studies that will be used to inform business decisions and strategies to achieve long-term performance goals. The position is responsible for supporting other analysts in building sophisticated analytical tools enabling FO&P to elevate it's value as a financial steward and financial advisor for TVA.
Supervisory Responsibility None, directs activities for programs and/or functions across SBUs.
Principal Accountabilities:
Senior technical subject matter expert in the Business Analytics department with the following responsibilities:
Conduct data analysis to solve business problems through the use of statistical and/or machine learning models
Deliver impactful analysis based on robust economic, financial, and statistical analysis
Illustrate key business trends through effective data interpretation and visualization
Supports projects to increase the sophistication of models, applications and analysis approaches used in FO&P
Supports and leads efforts to leverage data visualization applications and/or software coding to build sophisticated financial analysis tools and models for FO&P and other business units.
Interprets financial and quantitative analysis approaches to ensure that they are sound in order to support optimal business decisions are made to maximize value.
Interprets output of analysis performed by other staff members to support business decisions, optimization activities, and financial and planning strategies.
Leads and/or supports the development of models to perform predictive analytics leveraging historic benchmarking, financial and operational data.
Supports building technical training material to raise the technical acumen across FO&P staff
Lends technical and analytical expertise across Financial Services
Supports the evaluation results within FO&P and other organizations relative to models
Advise and fulfil ad-hoc requests for data and analysis to support senior management
Supports cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities
Supports projects focused on accelerating process automation across Financial Services.
Supports key tracks of TVA's digital transformation across multiple work streams.
Supports cross-organizational projects focused on strengthening technical acumen of the enterprise.
Provides advice/technical review of more complex analysis/evaluations.
Supports the development of FO&P models.
Performs other functions to ensure the goals and objectives of FO&P are met such as maintenance of assigned procedures/processes.
Serves as a key interface/liaison across financial services business units and with other strategic business units across the enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, finance, accounting, business analytics, data science, economics, engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees are preferred (MS, Ph.D).
Experience 10+ years of related experience, with prior management experience preferred. Incumbent should have a broad understanding of financial analysis, the utility industry, and the complexity of TVA organizations as a utility, government, and regulatory-controlled agency. The incumbent should have a sound understanding of predictive modeling, performance analysis and performance reporting, quantitative analysis techniques.
Certification/License, etc CFA or certification in relevant technical field is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must have the ability to analyze complex technical and management problems and determine the most cost effective solutions. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of business practices and procedures, financial systems and controls, computer skills, and financial analysis techniques. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to communicate clearly orally and in writing, and to influence when incumbent has no formal authority. Must be able to communicate effectively with top TVA management and other senior level professionals. Familiarity with analytical packages commonly used in model development such as Power Platforms, RPAs, Python, SQL, R, or other is desired. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
