General Accountabilities:

  • Operates as a Field Project Scheduler to manage zone portfolios by issuing portfolio reports, facilitating schedule changes that affect multiple investments and creating a project's initial schedule network (Precedence diagramming method) for an integrated master project schedule
  • Support Construction Foreman/ Sr. Foreman/ MCO by providing schedule management services. Support the Construction organization in short and long term resource planning
  • Supervise and direct staff (on a project basis) who are engaged in: the preparation of and monitoring and controlling of project schedules, as well as project cost and performance
  • Responsible for requesting / receiving feedback from various functional leads and project managers; incorporating their feedback into the schedule; and presenting the output in a manner that facilitates the planning and execution of the project in line with project objectives
  • Responsible for identifying critical and near-critical paths as well as trends to help the project team stay on track. Responsible for developing and maintaining project / program schedules using Oracle Primavera P6 related to major, complex or high profile transmission and distribution type capital projects; which may include resource loading of direct construction labour hours to enable resource management
  • Responsible to align the project schedule with the cost breakdown structure and integrate it with the contributing LoB
  • Responsible to produce relevant schedule reports and communicate with the project team
  • Perform schedule analysis and participate in integrated change management to ensure project success Responsible for the development of work methods and processes consistent with departmental Project Controls methodology
  • Show students, trainees or contract staff how to perform tasks and duties
  • Perform other duties as required

Selection Criteria:

  • Requires a good knowledge of English to communicate effectively with others and prepare technical reports. Requires a university degree in Engineering or Business Management or college diploma in Engineering Technology and additional training or education
  • Requires hands on experience in scheduling. A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience
  • Requires experience related to the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of transmission/distribution assets
  • Experience in construction management or related field is an asset. Examples include: Understanding working drawings, preparing construction schedules for the full lifecycle of a project, project planning, estimating and project control
  • Scheduling experience in transmission line and station projects or other linear project types is an asset
  • Experience with SAP - PS and BI Reporting would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Oracle P6 is an asset
  • Experience in aligning all applicable project control areas such as estimating, cost, schedule, change management, and risk is an asset
  • Construction management experience or is considered an asset
  • Experience in Lean Construction Scheduling is considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Resource forecasting for groups of projects
  • In depth understanding of critical path method and practical experience in schedule network development
  • (Precedence diagramming method)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Requires performing a variety of duties under the usual business office conditions. Required to travel in support of site meetings for the various projects/programs assigned. This will at times include overnight stays due to distance of travel and to ensure safe conditions for travel.
