JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, consultative and results driven professionals to join our team in the role of Business Process Specialist.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Recruitment & Onboarding, on behalf of the department, this role will provide direction on business process documentation and associated improvement policies and programs related to core business processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide direction on business process documentation and associated improvement programs.
  • Be responsible for the development and maintenance of business process methods and documentation. 
  • Liaise with internal departments and other divisions, customer groups and stakeholder representatives, relative to business process and improvement programs.
  • Develop and coordinate the methods, processes and policies which govern how the business process programs are conducted. Promote the value of these programs as contributors to key effectiveness areas within the Business Unit strategic framework.
  • Initiate and participate in formal business assessments through involvement in identifying specific needs, determining resources and involvement in selection of appropriate qualified consultants. 
  • Prepare the Project Execution Plan (PEP) ensuring Divisional requirements are met and carry the PEP through the approval process. Coordinate the work efforts of the consultants, contribute to the project and recommend to Supervisor acceptance or rejection of consultants' recommendations.
  • Plan, organize and participate in critical reviews and audits of management and business processes. 
  • Initiate reviews, reports and presentations, and evaluate proposals to improve business processes and their integration. 
  • Resolve controversial issues which have been identified relative to business process documentation and improvement or commitment to the principles involved.
  • Keep abreast of latest developments and assessment methods in business process analysis and change management fields and maintain communications with appropriate teams, associations and advisory bodies.
  • Develop and coordinate programs, as required, to address staff training needs in business process analysis and improvement methods and tools.
  • Represent the Division in discussions, teams and committees involving other Divisions, Utilities and Organizations on matters related to business process documentation and improvement. Influence those concerned in order to adopt programs and activities which are better suited to the needs and interests of the Division and Business Unit.

EDUCATION

  • Successful completion of 4 years University in business administration or a related field or by having the equivalent level of education.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking a professional with the following: 

  • A broad experience in the financial systems environment to enable recognition of the logical requirements of a system needed to satisfy management's business processes objectives. 
  • A sound knowledge of business processes. 
  • Familiarity with business process improvement policies, principles, methods, procedures, standards, measures and communication systems. 
  • Experience in the areas of planning, organization, and change management associated with business improvement initiatives and strategic and quality programming. 
  • The ability to build relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across OPG and with our Vendor partners.
  • A technical mindset with a high degree of knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Sharepoint, SAP Success Factors
  • Sourcing data, assessing analytics, and tracking performance through metrics.
  • The ability to consolidate large quantities of information into concise summaries.
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
