As the Associate Data Analyst, you will leverage your knowledge of systems, organizational structure, regulatory requirements and mathematical/statistical expertise to develop new datasets, provide oversight to processes and systems affecting data quality, and perform exploratory analysis to discover new insights.  Individuals in this position will work with or serve as business analyst to develop and implement business cases to apply the insights discovered to modify business processes and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work produced.  This role enables various work groups to use and trust the organization's data with the ultimate goal of realizing the data's full potential.

In this role, you should be highly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. We also want to see a passion for learning and research.

Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Build data wrangling/ETL infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources to prepare datasets for analysis.
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and other visualizations to support exploratory analysis and business request.
  • Perform exploratory analysis to uncover valuable and quantifiable business insights through the application of analytic, machine learning, statistical, and algorithic techniques.
  • Leverage expertise in business systems, processes, and data sets to serve as a champion for improved data quality and accurate data use across the organization.
  • Development of formal documentation including process maps, meeting minutes, glossaries, data dictionaries, meta data, architecture diagrams.
  • Assist in refining and prioritizing work request (self created and submitted by other business units) to optimize collection and use of data to improve efficiency, improve data quality, improve customer service, and reduce costs.
  • Develop test strategies for implemented efforts to optimize collection and use of data to improve efficiency, improve data quality, improve customer service, and reduce costs.
  • Constant, self-motiviated pursuit of learning systems, organizational structure, processes, data sets, techniques, etc.
  • Operate with direct supervision, guidance, and direction from leadership and senior staff.

Basic Qualifications:

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Use of data visualization software like PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau
  • Experience with Data Warehousing technology like Oracle Databases, SAP HANA, Google BigQuery
  • Programming experience in languages including SQL, Python, etc.

Preferred Experience:

  • Project management experience
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Use of corporate systems including but not limited to Maximo, SAP, Service HUB, OnBase, FileNet, ESRI
  • Use of data wrangling/ETL software like KNIME, Alteryx, Tibco, etc.
  • Use of big data analytics software including Spark, SPSS, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience working with machine learning, statistical techniques and algorithms
  • Utility experience
  • Experience with data governance
  • Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner
